Marigold Maison, an expanded version of one of my old favorites, Bombay Spice, which can be found tucked away in a strip mall in north Phoenix. It still feels (and tastes) like Bombay Spice, but it’s now a more upscale dine-in spot, which is wonderful.
Food and Drink
The food is, of course, delicious. You can also order from a selection of wines and beers, or try one of the traditional beverages offered. My favorite is the Chai-Carumba, it’s made up of spiced whiskey, coconut milk, chai tea and tamarind. I love iced teas, so this right up my alley (it’s kind of like an iced tea mixed with an Irish coffee drink.)
My friends prefer the Nimbu Pani. This drink is made from fresh squeezed lime and ginger cardamom infused lemon syrup. It’s very refreshing (kind of like a spicy limeade.)
As for food, most of the menu is made up of starters or shareable plates. Try the Samosa or the Samosa Chaat. These savory snacks are common Indian street foods; the texture and flavor is just right. The dosa at Marigold Maison is another great choice. Their Masala dosa comes with spicy potatoes and onions, which can be scooped up with the crispy crepe.
Try the Chicken Tikka Masala it’s a mild dish that comes with a tomato cream sauce. Dip it in your naan or tandoori bread, as each entrée comes with a piece.
Vegetarians will love the extensive vegetarian portion of the menu. The Mutter Paneer is a curry that features tomato, ginger, onion and cream along with snow peas and paneer.
One caveat, service can be slow, so make sure to order entrees and appetizers at the same time.
Make a Night of It
While the space is smallish and the kitchen is a bit slow, it’s definitely worth your time to give Marigold Maison a try. Next date night or girls’ night out; give it a shot!
