Since opening two years ago, Mother Bunch Brewing has become the downtown destination for elevated bar fare and delicious craft beers. Its location makes it an easy, convenient happy hour stop on the way home from work. It’s also on the way to the ballpark, so you’ll see plenty of sports fans ascend on Mother Brunch on game day.
Friendly Service, Laid Back Atmosphere
Every time I go, the service is excellent. The friendly bartenders always seem to know the names of those at the bar, and the servers always take care of my table. They are always ready with refills, suggestions and smiles.
The atmosphere here is relaxed, and the décor is awesome. The layout is open with a tall bar in the middle. Yes, right in the center of the large, well-lit space is their U-shaped bar. Behind that bar sits all 20 of Mother Bunch’s taps. And their ‘inspirational’ (religious) touches are everywhere. In fact, they use pews for larger party table seating.
Speaking of large parties, the have plenty of large tables ready to any parties who happen to wander in, and there’s a small lounge up front for a more casual seating option. If you’d like to view the chefs in action, there is a chef’s table located off the kitchen.
Food and Beer
Both the food and the beer at Mother Bunch are things to write home about. Often when a new brewery pops up, it offers great beer with only so-so table fare. Not here.
This microbrewery has more to offer than just beer; the menu is also very impressive. They really do have one of the best beer selections in Phoenix and to top it off, their food is phenomenal.
This is pub food with a twist. The juicy ‘Mother of All Burgers’ is a custom-blended burger with fried pork belly on top, along with white cheddar cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato, smoked tomato-onion jam and aioli on a brioche bun—delicious! And the sides are comfort food heaven. They have a delicious, gooey mac ‘n cheese you’ll be coming back for.
If you’re just stopping in for drinks, but wouldn’t mind a small plate or two to accompany your beers, Mother Bunch offers shared plates, too. Try the Salty Pork Rinds; the perfect complement to any beer on tap. They have a daily happy hour (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.) that features select small plates on special.
Try the Roasted Garlic in Olive Oil, which is a nice thick dip full of sweet roasted garlic; served with sliced bread and a crostini.
As for beers, they offer great flights; a perfect way to sample their brews and find your favorites. The selection is varied, ranging from old-school classics to newer, modern styles. In all, Mother Bunch offers excellent food and drink; it’s hard to find a better selection in town.
