Long Wong’s has been a staple of the Phoenix area for a long time, serving extra spicy hot wings along side other game day favorites like hot dogs and pizza. It’s the perfect place to go to watch sports or enjoy an afternoon with the family in a low-key atmosphere. The paper plates and simple furniture make it clear that this place is all about relaxation and having a good time without the fancy overtones.
While there are several Long Wong’s restaurants in the valley, the location at 28th Street and Thomas Road is the original wing house that started it all. Over the years, the owners have collected an odd assortment of toys and knickknacks to decorate the space, which are all proudly displayed on shelves throughout the room. Banners and flags hang from the ceiling in a colorful brigade. The back of the restaurant is home to a mini-arcade full of old school games for you and your kids to enjoy between watching a game and eating wings.
The menu at Long Wong’s is packed full of America’s most popular foods, but their wings are reason it all began. You can order a single serving of wings or you can go all in and get a 50 wing bucket or a 72 wing bucket for the whole family. They have 11 unique wing flavors including 4 different levels of buffalo sauce depending on your tolerance for spice, and other popular flavors like Lemon Ranch and Garlic Parmesan. They also have a full range of appetizers including potato salad, chili cheese fries and potato skins for you to enjoy.
The burger and sandwich menu is equally impressive. From the Mushroom cheeseburger to the pastrami and cheese sub, there is definitely something for everybody. If you’re looking for something a little simpler, they offer pizzas in 7″, 12″ and 16″ options as well.
Everything about Long Wong’s says that it is just a simple wing house set up for serving sports fans and families throughout the year. The service is fast, and while the wings may be their top seller, the burgers and hot dogs are definitely worth a shot as well.
